Course Description
According to self-help author Brian Tracy, “Those who do not have goals are doomed to work for those who do.” Basketball player Larry Bird said it this way: “A winner is someone who recognizes his God-given talents, works his tail off to develop them into skills and uses these skills to accomplish his goals.” Doubt this advice? You probably wouldn’t if you reviewed the results of studies (included in this seminar) of goal setters versus those who don’t set goals. Goal setting is essential for achieving success and significance. Knowledge and skills are necessary, but not sufficient. During the past year, have you spent more time thinking about and planning for your vacation, your next home, and your daughter’s wedding than you have planning the rest of your life? Does your answer make sense? While we cannot control all changes we experience, most of us can control much more than we do. There are only two futures for each of us, the one we create for ourselves and the one created for us by others. And, we can be sure of this: if we are not implementing our plan for us we will be part of the implementation of someone else’s plan for them. Live your plan or become the object of someone else’s plan. This one-hour seminar reinforces the power of goal setting. It explains how to set goals. This seminar is intended for both private and public sector personnel of all ages who want to enhance their goal setting and achieving ability, and, as a result, influence the goal setting and achieving of others. "It is a great format. It allows many of us to gather in the conference room during lunch hour to attend the seminar in a very efficient and limited timeframe. The hour length is fantastic. It fits into our brown bag lunch seminar plan."
"In an environment where time management is so crucial, it is wonderful to be able to attend a meaningful seminar with such little ancillary time commitments such as travel and coordination. My compliments. ASCE has found the perfect seminar format for today's busy professional."
