MicroStation Version 8 Fundamentals

Course Summary

For the new MicroStation user, this course builds a solid foundation in the concepts, tools, and features found in the MicroStation drawing environment. Starting with setting up a drawing and concluding with plotting, the participant is walked through a typical workflow using the tools and features of the latest version of MicroStation. No prior CADD experience is necessary. You will gain a solid understanding of MicroStation.

Instructors

The seminar will be led by one of the primary instructors listed below, as well as others from The Envision Group professional staff.

Ronald J. BrysRonald J. Brys, PLS
Mr. Brys, is the founder and president of the training and consulting firm The Envision Group. He is a former Land Surveyor, designer, and CADD system administrator. He has specialized in the software MicroStation & InRoads from Bentley Systems Corporation. His experience with the application of the software for engineering firms is invaluable in the instruction and ultimate use in a productive manner.

He received his degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the Madison Area Technical College and became a licensed Land Surveyor in 1981. Mr. Brys is a qualified instructor for the InRoads suite of products including InRoads (roadway/site design) and InRoads Survey (survey data collection and processing). He is also a qualified instructor for classes ranging from MicroStation Basics to advanced topics  such as 3D modeling and visualization.

He has nearly three decades of experience in the management of data for civil engineering design and construction projects ranging from airports, urban infrastructure design, to environmental sites and facilities.

Robert B. MechamRobert B. Mecham
Mr. Mecham joined the training and consulting firm The Envision Group in 2000 and became a partner in June of 2002. He has specialized in the software MicroStation & InRoads from Bentley Systems Corporation. Mr. Mecham had become an industry expert in the implementation, configuration, development, and customization of the two software applications MicroStation and InRoads.

He received his degree in Civil Engineering Technology from the Madison Area Technical College in 1992. Mr. Mecham is a “qualified Instructor” for MicroStation classes ranging from fundamentals to advanced productivity. He has extensive experience using, implementing, and instructing both InRoads Survey and InRoads Site Design.

He has over a decade of experience in the use, implementation, and management of software and CADD systems. Valuable experience was gained working for a wide range of organizations providing services from general survey and engineering services to specific applications such as landfills and site design.

Course Description

For the new MicroStation user, this course builds a solid foundation in the concepts, tools, and features found in the MicroStation drawing environment. Starting with setting up a drawing and concluding with plotting, the participant is walked through a typical workflow using the tools and features of the latest version of MicroStation.

Interspersed throughout are real-world design problems solved using the concepts learned to the point in the course. Various engineering disciplines are represented in the form of hands-on exercises. Course participants will learn to create, organize, view, modify, annotate, and plot drawings in a 2-D environment. No prior CADD experience is necessary.

You will gain a solid understanding of MicroStation. The ability to create and edit 2D designs using established design standards in a production environment.
